Q: The invitation says the dress code is "casual". What does that mean?
A: It means, "Be comfortable, dress for a party". This is a pretty good summary. It will be warm (mid-low 80's in the afternoon and evening, dropping into the 70's at night. Shorts are fine, but you can do better than a t-shirt and flip flops. No tie required, but wear one if you want to.
As a point of reference, James (Caesar's son) is in the wedding party, and will be wearing a white button down shirt with "real" pants (as in...not sweatpants), but no tie.
Q: Is this thing happening inside or outside?
A: With a bit of luck, and answer is "both". The weather is looking good at this point, so the ceremony will be outside. The cocktail hour will open (you choose). Dinner and dancing will be inside (but its an open, airy venue).
Q: What time should I get there?
A: The ceremony will be short... so you don't want to be late. The ceremony will start ~6:15pm so suggest you plan on arriving by 6pm. That will give you time to park, make the short walk from the parking lot to the house, and find a seat before the ceremony starts.
Q: If I'm flying in, do I need a car?
A: If you're comfortable with Uber or Lyft, you can get from the airport to/from the hotel, and from the hotel to/from the wedding venue that way if you'd like. Normally, an Uber or Lyft will cost about $50 to/from the airport, and take about 30 min with no traffic. An Uber or Lyft to/from the wedding venue to the hotel will cost about $10-$15.
Alternatively you can rent a car. Getting from the airport to the hotel/venue area is pretty easy, highway driving (rte 90, to rte 128/95).
Q: Are there other hotels to choose from?
A: Yes. There are quite a few hotels in the same area as the Westin and the Hyatt House. More options can be found here: Hotels.com. Note that anything listed in the "Piety Corner" area will be in the immediate area of the Westin and the Hyatt House, and within 10 min of the wedding venue.
Q: What else is there to do in the area?
A: Boston has a lot to see... great museums, historical sites, and more. Here are a few recommendations:
Some personal favorites:
deCordova museum : a great outdoor sculpture museum/park about a 12 min drive from the hotel
New England Aquarium (downtown Boston)
Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (downtown Boston)
Boston Institute of Contemporary Art (aka The ICA), a great contemporary art museum (downtown Boston)
